i am in a league where we keep 14 players ... i know 10 keepers for sure, but i am stuck with the 4 other ... the ones in BOLD are my keepers i picked up so far. the ones underlined are the ones i won't pick up due to injures, old, etc. there is also a lot of pitchers, that were picked up during the play offs to give me extra K, W, etc. the other four i think i like to keep woud be between Yunel Escobar, Chone Figgins, Tori Hunter, Colby Rasmus, Brett Anderson, Daniel Bard. Please HELP
Chris Coghlan (Fla - 2B,OF) Mark DeRosa (SF - 1B,2B,3B,OF) Yunel Escobar (Atl - SS) Chone Figgins (Sea - 2B,3B) Torii Hunter (LAA - OF) Nick Markakis (Bal - OF) Joe Mauer (Min - C) David Ortiz (Bos - 1B) Colby Rasmus (StL - OF) Drew Stubbs (Cin - OF) Kevin Youkilis (Bos - 1B,3B)
Brett Anderson (Oak - P) Homer Bailey (Cin - P) Daniel Bard (Bos - P) Kyle Davies (KC - P) Zach Duke (Pit - P) Jon Garland (SD - P) Jason Hammel (Col - P) Ubaldo Jiménez (Col - P) Josh Johnson (Fla - P) John Lannan (Was - P) Jon Lester (Bos - P) Paul Maholm (Pit - P) Brian Moehler (Hou - P) Kevin Slowey (Min - P) Edinson Vólquez (Cin - P) Michael Wuertz (Oak - P) Jordan Zimmermann (Was - P) Joel Zumaya (Det - P)
Since there are so many keepers per team I imagine that the pickens are slim when it comes to draft the rest of your roster. As such, Torii Hunter is probably a definite keeper as he would probably be better than a lot of what would be available on the open market. That same logic can be applied to Escobar and Figgins so really it comes down to your last keeper slot.
Daniel Bard will get a lot of appearances and holds most likely but won't be a source of saves. Brett Anderson would be my pick as he has long term potential as a keeper and should be a nice asset as you won't have to rely on him to be a horse since you have a very nice group of starters as it is.
what is the word on Jordan Zimmerman. i just looked at his yahoo profile and it says Injury Note 60-day DL as of Feb 19, 2010 (Recovery from right elbow surgery) i know he got injured half way thru the season last year, so is this something new? will he be ready by opening day?
Escobar was one of those guys i raelly had to pick because of the lack of SS avialable and he isn't that terrible. I don't know if i want to go with Hunter for another year. He had a good year last year, and i am afraid he won't be able to match that. After all he is 35 and he was injured last year for some time

Zimmermann won't likely be back until August, allegedly.
Escobar is a good little player. He helped fill my void at short stop after Reyes went down last year. I think he can be counted on to be a solid fantasy contributor. Not a superstar but solid.
As for Hunter...I'd hold on to him until he proves that he can't do it anymore. Give him a month and if he isn't performing up to your standards try to dump him off on an owner in your league who may be drawn to his name more than his production. I know everyone wants to be ahead of the curve when it comes to fantasy sports but I really feel that he would bring more to the table than most of the players that would be available. Colby Rasmus definitely has keeper potential for multiple years but you would lose some solid numbers switching to him most likely.

so if that's the case, i'll have an option of going with 5 keepers, instead of 4. i had zimmermann as one of the 10 keepers from before. That will give me an option to keep escobar, hunter, colby, figgins and anderson. I really like bard, but i don't know if hes a keeper yet. He might be by next year. Pap will leave Boston sooner or later, and bard has closer potential. on the other side if pap stays boston, boston will look to trade bard in the middle of the season so that will give Bard playing time.
