Should I finally grab a starter? I was thinking of potentially filling up my offense and then going after pitchers. Thoughts?
Best avail pitchers: Gallardo, Hamels, Hanson, Nolasco, Webb, Wandy Rodriguez Best hitters: Nelson Cruz, Morneau, Morales, Carlos Lee, Manny, Berkman, Markakis, Adam Jones, Abreu, Josh Hamilton
Maybe pair Gallardo with a hitter...or go with 2 hitters due to the caliber of player left (esp in OPS league)?
It looks like SP is already starting to run a little thin, you don't have a top tier SP so you will need more middle tier guys I would think. I say grab hanson and markakis and hope nolasco is there next time around.
I would go with Morneau and Hamels. In a H2H OPS league, I'd still continue to pile on power hitters and I'd say Morneau is the best choice. Because it seems like you need a starter, I'd go with Hamels. I expect him to bounce back with a nice K/BB ratio. I also like Cruz if you want to keep building your offense over Hamels.
Thanks for all the help. Seems like Morneau is a must-grab at this point, even with no starters and just one OF. Just gotta decide what to do with the second pick. I still am quite high on Gallardo since his injury last year was an ACL and not an arm injury, but also expect big things out of Hanson. However, there was just a huge rush on pitchers in the past round, so that may calm down.
I can see Morneau, he's a big talent, I just wouldn't want to tie up that util spot so early on a 2nd 1B. Also gotta figure in his injuries(back and the dreaded wrist) and his tendency to crap out over the second half of the season. Look up his splits, his lifetime post AS break batting average is .260 vs .299 pre AS. h2h is particularly tough with guys that fade or are fighting injuries all year.
