I've been away for awhile, but now I'm back in the fantasy baseball mood. In a few days, I need to select my three keepers in my highly competitive league. It is points H2H: -For hitters, the scoring rewards power a little more than speed in terms of overall points. OBP is a plus too. -Starting pitchers are vital. If they pitch very well, they'll score a lot of points and you'll be in a good position to win. If they don't pitch well, you'll certainly feel the effects. -Hitters have 6-7 days to accumulate their points. SP's only have 1, sometimes 2 outings to score each week. -Lineups feature 9 hitters (C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, 3 OF, UTL) and 9 pitchers (5 SP, 3 RP, 1 P)
Keeping this in mind, which three players do I keep? - 1B Miguel Cabrera - very consistent, but didn't have the huge HR/RBI numbers in 2009. - 1B Ryan Howard - enormous power and one of the top-scoring hitters, but can be streaky. - OF Matt Kemp - five-tool production and consistent, but Howard and Cabrera both outscored him. - SP Dan Haren - Sensational first half, rough second half. - SP CC Sabathia - Rough first half, sensational second half. - SP Adam Wainwright - A top-10 SP, but is he really better than Haren or CC?
If you can only keep three, then I would start looking for trades. Get something out of those guys. I would keep Howard, Miggy, and Kemp. But if you can move one of those guys then I would go with CC.
