Monster keeper trade- Howard, Holliday, Pedroia-help needed

Postby grandpa » Fri Feb 19, 2010 5:37 pm

Monster keeper trade possibility- 12 team league- keep 7 plus one rookie and 2 minors. Due to off-season trades I have compiled the following roster pre-draft which I believe is solid for now and long term but the trade offer is very intriguing:
C- VMart
1b- Berkman
2b- Beckham
SS- Alcides Escobar
3b- Longoria
OF- Holliday
OF- Sizemore
OF- Adam Jones
U- Coghlan
SP- Wade Davis

Possible trade would be my Berkman, Beckham, Sizemore, and Holliday for his Howard, Pedroia, and Hamilton. Seems at first to be a no, but then as I think and look at it, it gets more inteteresting, especially if Josh can rebound.

Make the trade. Definite upgrade to your roster.

Obviously the Hamilton deal is horrible. Pence/Kubel makes it a lot closer, but still it comes down to whether you want Kubel or Beckham and I would take Beckham. So no deal in my view.

I don't like any of that deal for you. You are giving up more talent and getting some question marks in return. I am not a fan of Howard as his numbers have been on the decline over the past couple years and I don't see that coming back around. He is better than Berkman but I don't think it will be by that much. Holliday is better and safer than Hamilton. Gordon is a future stud at 2B and along with Sizemore they are more valuable than Pedroia.

Here's how I see it:

Howard>Berkman
Pedroia>Beckham
Hamilton<Sizemore,Holiday

Actually Hamilton is less than either of those OF's. Howard is a definite upgrade over Berkman. Pedroia is a definite upgrade at this point over Beckham. If Hamilton rebounds to what he was two years ago, then he could be better than Holiday and Sizemore. I would turn it down, but it's fairly close. I wouldn't take the other deal, I don't think...

Who would your final keeper be if you did the deal, though?
