Return to Draft, Trade, Keeper and Waivers Questions

I have a middle pick in my leagues upcoming snake draft. We have ten teams which all keep 6 majors league players and three minor league players. Out of the 60 total major league players kept 30 were pitchers and out of the 30 minor league players kept 14 were pitchers. Four picks have been made in the draft and all of them were pitchers. We can hold keepers as long as we want with no restrictions.
Am I out of my mind to think about drafting Strasburg for future building at this point or go for a solid guy who will help with points this year. Our league is thinking of expanding after this season to twelve teams so pitching will continue to be important and hard to get. I could have a chance to win this year with the team I have for a basis now but I also feel my team has enough youth to compete for years to come based on the keepers I have now. Ideally I would want Strasburg to stay minor eligible through this year to keep him as a minor player rather than a major player, cutoff being 50ip. Whats everyone's feeling on him passing 50ip this year. If he passes 50ip, I could trade Strasburg in the offseason possibly to another team with no pitching or to an expansion team if we expand.
I would feel better with my second pick going this way but I don't think Strasburg will make it past the turn between rounds 1 & 2.
My keepers were.

Hard for me to say without seeing some of the top options you would be passing up to get him.

Agreed. Don't take him at this point. I don't know your settings, so I don't know why pitching is at such a premium. The goal is to win with the youngest team possible. That's my opinion. Strasburg makes it a near automatic rebuilding job. I wouldn't draft him before the third or fourth pick in your league. There is no guarantee that he will be any good- ever. Plenty of "can't miss" guys have missed. I just can't imagine that he's worth a first round pick in your league- particularly since you have a lot of ML pitchers already there.
Good luck!

Ok so we have gone through two rounds, I went SP, RP. I think 5-6 hitters have been selected thus far.
What would be a good time to select a Strasburg type prospect in a keeper league that is dependent on pitching.

For your team, he might not be draftable as a prospect. With the group of guys you have now, you almost have to draft Strasburg based solely on 2010 value. He will probably burn his rookie eligibility, and he probably won't be good enough yet to keep over any of your current keepers.
