Dynasty Trade Offer WHIR

Postby curl » Thu Feb 18, 2010 6:21 pm

I'm in a deep h2h dynasty league (20 teams, 25 keepers). It's 6x6 with holds and OPS as the 2 extra categories.

I was offered the following trade:

My:

Mike Cameron
Jon Lester
Ricky Nolasco

For:

Curtis Granderson
Javier Vazquez
88th pick in the draft (out of 100)

Now, I really like Nolasco and Lester this year, but my OF is pretty weak, so I definitely could use an upgrade. So, do you think this deal is close enough to do? Keep in mind that this was his initial offer, so maybe I could try to substitute John Danks in for Nolasco and get a higher draft pick if it's just a little off. And I also have a couple veteran pitchers in Guthrie and Freddy Garcia, or even rookie Bryan Augenstein if he happens to earn a spot in the Dback rotation this spring, that I could keep with that extra keeper slot opened. So, thoughts?

My expected roster at this point:

C Joe Mauer
1b Chris Davis
2b Ian Kinsler
3b Pablo Sandoval
ss Yunel Escobar
of Nelson Cruz
of Matt LaPorta
of Michael Brantley
util Brandon Wood
util Mike Cameron
bench Lars Anderson
bench Conor Jackson
bench Ben Francisco/Nate Schierholtz (haven't decided which)

SP (with 11 starts max a week):

John Danks
Jeremy Bonderman
Jon Lester
Ricky Nolasco
Jeff Niemann
Kevin Correia
Francisco Liriano

RP:

Heath Bell
David Aardsma
Jose Valverde
Angel Guzman
Darren O'Day

I think Granderson will be better in NY, but Lester is a top SP, and I expect Nolasco to be good this year. I would look for OF help elsewhere.

I would also look for OF help elsewhere. Lester should be a top pitcher for the next several years and Vazquez's ERA should be a full run higher in New York. Cameron isn't flashy but he's solid in a league like that and Nolasco should takes a few more steps forward this year.

Thoughts here?

lester is probably the best fantasy pitcher in the league now that halladay is in the NL. it would take a "blow me out of the water" trade offer to deal him.

I'd hold on to Lester.

I wouldn't. This would take away more from your staff than it adds to your OF. I think Vazquez gets blown up in NY this season. BOS has an improved defense so Lester should put up big numbers.

The only reason I wouldn't is because I'm super-high on Lester as a long-term keeper. For this year it wouldn't be too bad. I'm much higher on Vazquez this year than the consensus.

No way should you trade Nolasco and Lester under those circumstances.
