Sorry if this was brought up in a preivious post, but I am in a 10 manager 10 keeper H2H league with normal scoring. Would you trade Beltran away for Quentin. I tried to get Ethier, but he would only do it for my 1st round pick and Beltran.
My keepers are:
Mauer Adrian Gonzalez Aramis Ramirez Bay Sizemore Beltran Josh Johnson Carpenter Billingsley Cliff Lee
Would you do this trade and if not, would you consider throwing Beltran back in the draft and taking Uggla instead. I had Uggla as my 2B but I am throwing him back in.
Thanks
P.S. I have the 7th & 14th picks picks overall and I dont know if Uggla or Beltran would be there by my 7th pick. Again, that would be our actual 11th round pick after we feed in our 10 keepers. I do know Denard Spam is being thrown back in?
P.S.S. As bad as this group of keepers looks, it finished 2nd, 3rd, and 4th the last 3 seasons. Starting to get old starting with Beltran.
I'd go with Quentin personally. A good deal of Beltran's value is tied to his SB's and I question how many he'll contribute when he returns. Also, the biggest knock on Quentin is his risk of injury, but when you can trade an injured superstar for a guy who's healthy and simply has the potential to get hurt I think you have to take it.
Quentin hasn't even reached his ceiling yet, while Beltran has. I won't say that Beltran is declining, but I think he's been overvalued since his incredible 2004 season. Quentin gets dumped on for a low BA, but he hit over .300 consistently in the minors and hit .288 in 2008. He wasn't healthy last season and missed a lot of games. I expect him to bounce back this season and prove to be a steal considering how late he's falling.
The combo of the ballpark and the addition of Pierre at the top of the order should help Quent produce this year. Injury is possible with both, so if I am going purely on the potential numbers, I go with CQ.
