In a keeper league, we keep 5 players from last season.

I bolded the4 I really like and will probably keep. Who would you suggest as a 5th? Would you pick differently than me?

Kemp, Howard and Lincecum are no-brainers. I'm not entirely sold on Cano, but he's not a bad choice at second.

If you really wanted to lock up pitching you could take Verlander + Lester over Cano. If not, go with Verlander

Screw starting pitching, load up on relievers. Look how many stats favor relievers in this setup:

WHIP, ERA, K/9, TB, SV for relievers, W and K for starters. If you can make trades, give up your arms for some bats. This league was made to punt starting pitching! Is there an innings minimum each week?

Robinson Canó (NYY - 2B) 204/637 103 25 85 5 .320 .352 .520
Ryan Howard (Phi - 1B) 172/616 105 45 141 8 .279 .360 .571
Matt Kemp (LAD - OF) 180/606 97 26 101 34 .297 .352 .490

Justin Verlander (Det - SP) 240.0 19 0 269 333 3.45 1.18 10.09

Howard and Kemp are easy pickings. Same for Lincecum and in my book, Verlander too. With K/9 as a category, they hold extra value. I'm not crazy about Cano myself, but I think you're getting solid production out of him at 2B, as opposed to Hamilton who has an inability to stay healthy (apart from 2008) and there's a good chance he winds up with Cano-like stats, at best.

What do other owners in your league tend to keep? If top pitchers are usually held then I'd lean towards the Verlander / Lester combo over Cano also... but if pitching will be plentiful then I'd consider keeping Verlander and Cano.

Hmmm. I would add Lester to that list, and actually keep Coghlan instead of Cano. Coghlan is capable of putting up similar is not better BA. Close in R and RBI, plus has a speed upside that Cano doesn't have.

That's tricky, but i'd say Lester over Verlander.. Verlander threw a TON of innings last year (240.0) thats almost 40 innings more than ever before.. That's his only scary part, but this is who i would keep:

Kemp
Lincecum
Howard
Cano (cuz he plays on a stacked team and in a bandbox)
Lester, unless you trust Josh Hamilton enough to think he'll last a whole year.. which i don't.

I'd go with the 4 you have plus Verlander.
