Need to drop one. Harden, Volstad or E. Santana

Postby Tenacious D-Store » Tue Feb 16, 2010 11:35 pm

This is a league called Building To Dynasty. Every season we increase the keepers until it becomes a full dynasty. This year we are up to 19 keepers and 10 prospects. I have 20 keepers marked in Bold. This is a 6x6 roto league with OPS and Holds added. I'm considering dumping Chris Volstad or Rich Harden. I refuse to believe Volstad is as bad as what we saw last season and he's still young. Harden will break down before the end off the season, but he should be a great source of K's and wins until then. I still haven't completely given up on Ervin Santana but he has to be a candidate as well.

Volstad. At least when Harden does pitch, he gives some nice innings. You can replace the Volstad production with a ton of guys.

Harden gets no respect. Who gave him a vote? 2 years ago, he was close to the best pitcher. I don't see any reason he's not top 20.

You know what Dave, I've read many of your posts and disagreed, but what you just said showed me that I am contradicting myself. I keep saying young pitchers are overhyped and a dime a dozen yet I refuse to let go of one who's done little to show he has any more potential than any other young pitcher I could snag. Last year I picked up JA Happ as a fluke in almost all my leagues and... well it doesn't matter since Happ won't repeat either. I'm gonna cut Volstad.

I don't even see how you even have to consider this. Volstad is the easy drop IMO. Just look at a mock here or there. Harden is always drafted, Volstads name never even is considered. Harden will give you great production even if he only starts 15 games. That value far exceeds what Volstad can give you.
