Do any Dollar values stand out?-Keepers

Postby Dr. StrangeGlove » Tue Feb 16, 2010 5:08 pm

I'm in an auction, 12 team, 4x4 AL only, keeper league (RBI, SB, XBH, AVG / W, ERA, WHIP, S) 280$ salary cap

I can keep 6 and have an idea of who I want to keep.
Does anybody's value here stand out?

C. Pena 17 (cheap power?)
Pedroia 21
M. Izturis 3 (a cheap filler, 4 category contributor?)
G. Beckham 15
Papelbon 34 (saves and speed are premium priced)
J. Smoak 6 (a possible bargain?) I have time to watch spring training position battles

On the bubble

Crawford 39 (too much?) Reimold 12, Getz 7 (cheap speed?) Hunter 27 (Too much?) Bard 9
Thoughts would be appreciated, Thanks

None of those standout as good "values" IMO. Are those your only choices or your best choices?

Pedroia is very nice for that price, and that is about right for Crawford. The others aren't value.

12 team AL inflates value (especially if you have a large roster, you didn't mention the size of your roster).

Pedroia is a good value in your league
M. Izturis is a steal in your league
G Beckham is close if not just a bit under value, so on the cusp. I'd keep him at that price given your league (I'm assuming 14 hitters 9 pitchers to calculate value and the 280 rather than 260 bumps up prices, so most people look at these prices and if they are thinking mixed or AL with 260$ then they underprice).

Pena way too expensive
Papelbon is overpriced

so are the others, especially Bard, He's a 1$ flier. Smoak is hard to say. right now he is not worth it, but that could change.

that's my 5 cents

Sorry, yes I forgot to mention 2c, 1,2,3,ss, 1CI, 1MI, 5 OF, 1-2 Util and 10-11 Pitching spots
so a 15 hitter/ 10 pitcher format. Thanks
