Two too many keepers

Postby Tenacious D-Store » Tue Feb 16, 2010 2:59 pm

This is a league called Building To Dynasty. Every season we increase the keepers until it becomes a full dynasty. This year we are up to 19 keepers and 10 prospects. I have 21 keepers marked. This is a 6x6 roto league with OPS and Holds added. I'm considering dumping Matt Thornton and Rich Harden. Harden will break down before the end off the season, but he should be a great source of K's and wins until then. I still haven't completely given up on Ervin Santana but he has to be a candidate as well.

I'd hold on to Helton. Also Alcides Escobar should be the starting SS, so you'll have depth there and need to keep a spot for him. Your SP could use some help. I'd also try to get Coghlan off the bench. I think he's going to have a great year. Casey McGehee is unproven and you have depth in the IF. He's not a lock keeper for me. I'd try to trade for SP help from your deep Offense.

I wanted to keep Helton, he still makes great contact and can knock in runs, but with Teix and Miggy on my team I felt he was disposable. I have to keep Casey, he's my only 3rd baseman right now. No one's talking trade unless I deal one of my top 1st baseman, and that's just not going to happen.

I have dropped Motte and sent down McGhee (even though I'll have to call him back up after the draft (I'll just draft a minor league eligible player and swap them back out again). So now I just have to cut one person in bold from my main roster. Any suggestions?

Harden is a easy keep. Drop Volstad.

Yeah, I'm leaning towards Harden now, no way I get 200 innings from him and it is a dynasty so even if he proves to have value this season how much could he really have left for the future. I refuse to believe Volstad is as bad as what he showed last season. I'm too stubborn to drop he yet.

Hmm... I appear to have misread your post there Hootie

Well it turned out Casey McGehee was not minor league eligible in this league after all. I decided since I had an open prospect spot the best thing to do was place Drew on the trade block and deal him for a prospect. That way I eliminate one of my keepers bringing me down to the limit of 19 and replenish my prospects (which are kind of sad any way). I received on offer of Josh Vitters for Drew, given the fact that all I have is McGehee at third right now and it's very unlikely I'll be able to draft a 3rd baseman of any significance, I jumped on it. Now I'll just called up Alcides Escobar when the season starts and play him at SS. Feel free to comment on the trade, I probably overpaid a bit but given the circumstances I was willing to swallow it.
