Newb here, and I need a little keeper help. I haven't played fantasy baseball before in my life, and I haven't even floowed baseball since the Jays were winning World Series, so I am, as they say, out of the loop. Using aggregate rankings from ESPN and Y! I've narrowed my keeper list down to the following, but I'd appreciate any input...

I need to keep seven of these guys-

1. Chase Utley
2. Roy Halladay
3. Jose Reyes
4. Kevin Youkilis
5. Josh Hamilton
6. Adam Jones

7. Cole Hamels
8. Heath Bell
10. Todd Helton
11. Erick Aybar
12. Ryan Dempster

I'm pretty sure that the top 6 guys are all defienitely worth keeping (based on their ranks anyway), but the last 5 guys are a bit of a mixed bag. Right now I'm leaning toward keeping Hamels since I'd only be keeping one pitcher otherwise, and he seemed like better value than Bell (don't pay for saves is apparently a FBB mantra, who knew

)

Thoughts?

Depends on your scoring system, but I imagine it's pretty standard.

Don't pay for saves, true. But the 7th round (which is basically where you'd be "drafting" him in this situation) is probably not too high for Heath Bell. He is reliable and won't hurt your ERA of WHIP.

I have him at about the end of 9th/start of 10th round in my rankings, but I think you may consider keeping Bell here.

Check the rosters of the othere teams if you are allowed to see their keepers before you turn yours in. If Rivera, Papelbon, etc. are being kept, then that makes keeping Bell even more important.

i think the 7 players in that order is a solid list to build on a team. Bell is interesting but some say he will be traded by mid-season.

Hamels and Halladay should be good for the beginning steps of your rotation and the rest of your team is solid. hope for a healthy season from Reyes and Hamilton and you should be fine.
