RANK THESE SP'S PLEASE

Postby reider3 » Mon Feb 15, 2010 7:07 pm

I wanted to seee everyone's thoughts on these SP's. How would you rank them in a 5 X 5 Roto Keeper League for the 2010 season?

Wainwright
Lester
Hanson
Kershaw
Gallardo

I was thinking this order....

Wainwright (Solid all around ;K rate rose in 2009)
Hanson (Absolutely dominanted after a slow first couple of starts)
Gallardo (Tired in the second half of 2009)
Lester (Can't get over the division he pitches in)
Kershaw (Lots of control issues)

Thanks
Leave a link I will help with yours!!

1. Lester (Dominating 2009 vaults him to first, and should be outstanding long-term at his age.)
2. Wainwright (Solid all-around, still top 10)
3. Hanson (Slight control issues)
4. Kershaw (More control issues than Hanson)
5. Gallardo (same questionable control as Kershaw, but Kershaw is younger with more time to figure it out)

Lester best right now
Hanson
Kershaw highest upside of the group
Wainwright most overrated of the 5 imo
Gallardo

Ditto. You had them in the right order to start. I wouldn't want Gallardo or Kershaw on my team - BB's kill.

1. Lester (I have him and Wainwright very close, but his K potential is terrific. Think he takes a Verlander-like step.)
2. Wainwright (Not a great fastball pitcher and could see a negative correction in his K's. Groundball rate and his offspeed pitches are filthy).
3. Hanson (Possesses fantastic control for a pitcher his age. Don't worry about the innings jump from '08 to '09, as it was a relatively small step compared to the leap other young starters have.)
4. Gallardo (Has the track record to post a tremendous K/9 and could have enough experience to lower the walks.)
5. Kershaw (Inconsistent control, but I believe his growth in harnessing his command has been overlooked to a certain extent too. Developing a plus changeup to an excellent fastball/curve combo. K potential, obviously.)

Kershaw had the same WHIP as Lester last year...yes, more walks, but a lot less hits as well.
