Dynasty Trade Help WHIR

Postby MaudDib » Mon Feb 15, 2010 5:38 pm

So I am looking at possibly acquiring Justin Upton. The problem is that I might have to overpay for him. This is a Dynasty points league with 35 man rosters and 20 man minor league systems.

C - Weiters, Soto
1st - Pujols, Votto, Butler
2nd - Pedroia
3rd - Longoria
SS - Tulo, Yunel Escobar, Alcides Escobar
OF - Kemp, BJ Upton, Sizemore, Hamilton, Bruce, Rasmus, Joyce, Rajai Davis

SP - Felix, Kershaw, Wainwright, Gallardo, Matusz, Nolasco, Brett Anderson, Holland, Price, Sanchez, Ervin Santana, Gio Gonzalez,
RP - Fuentes, Broxton, Capps

Minor Notables - Alvarez, Smoak, Starlin Castro, Tim Beckham, Montero, Morrison, Westmoreland, Moore, etc

The deal I would probably be making would be something like

Votto/Butler, Yunel/Alcides and Sizemore for Upton

Is this too much. Most of these guys are bench players but is the difference between Sizemore and Upton worth it?

...and as always WHIR.

I don't think it is as bad as it looks. Like you said, most are bench guys anyways, and what does Sizemore really have left? He has seemed to be a bust forever now. It looks like a great time to buy a MAJOR stud now, while you can.

Do you have a Util spot that Votto or Butler plays in?

I wouldn't ever have a problem giving up Sizemore and Alcides Escobar (I don't think he'll hit enough) for Upton... it's the extra 1B that seems steep. Granted if they don't get any starting time b/c there's just no room for them I guess go ahead and deal them... maybe some sorta prospect along w/ Upton?

I guess I would do Butler, Sizemore and Al. Escobar for Upton but I'd want another piece back... nothing major a prospect and flier on a reliever... something to just get a lil' more value.

Your team is ridiculously deep so you might as well use some of the superfluous talent to upgrade starting spots.

Yes I have a Util spot. But I think it might end up taking Votto instead of Butler. And that is where it feels like a lot especially if Votto takes another step forward this year.

Are you saying this is a 3 for 1? I may have read incorrectly, but if it is one of the 1B, one Escobar AND Sizemore, then it may be a bit too much...I might do it for Sizemore/Butler, but Votto is going nowhere near that deal. yunel might be pretty replaceable so it's not that big a deal if you give him up as well, but Alcides ceiling is likely higher. If you get to choose the players in your groupings then I might do it for Butler/Sizmore/Yunel...

Yes, three for one. That is what is making me reluctant. Upton could be a beast but...

With Butler and either SS, it's a steal. With Votto, it's much closer.
