Pretty much can go in order. I'd rather not pick right at an end because that is generally a nightmare so something like 3 or 9 are probably best for me though if I had to pick a spot I'd go #1 or #2 and take Pujols/Ramirez and just deal with being stuck on the end.
I am very interested in this topic and hope more people can chime in,
My leagues for years have just used a randomized seed given right before the draft so i never really thought to heavily on the strategy, just did enough mocks to get a feel, This year instead of just randomizing the draft order we are selecting teams out of a hat and you get to pick your draft spot, (i'm sure there is a name for that )
In the first league i have picked the 2 spot, because i am a hanley homer, and if he goes one oh darn you get pujols,
In my other league i have gotten the 3rd pick on draft spots, 1st guy selected #2 draft spot, 2nd guy hasn't selected yet, so i virtually can pick from anywhere. If he passes on the 1st i will most likely grab it but if not i am really not that sure. I have liked picking from the 12 spot before, i think the back to back picks become a slight advantage in the mid to end game. But I am beginning to get wary of that spot now from all the responses though.
A previous poster said they would be fine with the first 11, but not 12, who are you avoiding D.Wright?

Normally I love 5/6/7 but could live with any --this year Im hoping for top 4 and definitely dont want 12. Reason is 2nd rd sucks and would prefer drafting end of 2nd rd and getting who I want in third.
I like 5, 6, or 7 also if I had my choice in a 12 team league. I hate when your 1st or last, and it seems like it takes forever while all those players are taken in front of you. Then when it is finally your turn you don't have much time to research between picks. It's nice when your in the middle so you have a little more time to look up some info and have a better plan when your finally up.
I've picked at 10 in a 12 team & I'm picking at 2 in a 14 team, and I don't see any advantage to early or late, I getting ready to pick at 8 in a 14, so I'll have a better idea after that one. I do like my teams better that I've picked in auctions this year, and if the trend in my snake drafts continues (missing too many guys I've wanted), I'm seriously considering only doing auctions from now on.
With the mocks I have done, I have liked my teams best when I pick late (8, 9, 10) in a 12 team. Have only done about 10 so far, so maybe it will change later down teh read.
