Help me get Tulo!

Postby CraigMasbruch » Fri Feb 12, 2010 11:29 pm

I would like to acquire Tulo in my keeper league. It's a 12-team 6x6 H2H (extra categories are OBP and L). Keeper rules: Players are to be kept 3 rounds earlier each year. (12th-round draft pick would be kept as a 9th rounder the following year). Free Agent pickups are 18th rounders the next year, and if you have more than one 18th rounder, they have to be kept in the 17th, 16th, etc. Tulo would be kept as a 3rd rounder this year (35th pick for me). So who do I offer? Here is my team of keepers, with their rounds:

Mauer 2
Votto 5
Broxton 6
Greinke 9
Kershaw 13
Fuentes 18
N. Morgan 18
W. Rodriguez 18
M. Young 18
Markakis 18
A. Hill 18

I have 6 18th rounders, so if I trade one of them it would be like trading him as a 13th rounder...I offered N. Morgan or W. Rodriguez, but no dice. Do I offer M. Young or Markakis, or is that too much?

first off you got markakis off waivers? or in the 18th round? you need to quit your league, thats just stupid....

I would say offer greinke, but since you're league doesn't look too intelligent, i'd offer less.... I would not be worried about losing markakis if you could deal him for tulo and surplus....

I dont know what to tell you.

You have solid team as of now. See what he's thinking before you offer the house. If nothing else wait til TULO slumps in the first couple months then make a move for him....

You are going to have to give up a Votto or Mauer. Tulo is a top 10 guy going in this year and is at a premium position with little depth. You're going to have to give up a top guy.

'

tulo is about a #14 guy... top ten is pushing it.... yahoo is crazy.

I personally LOVE tulo and could take him at #13, mentioning this a month ago was getting me crucified.... but top ten is a little bit of ajump....saying you'd take him over a consistent producer is tough.

At SS tho he is a beast. TOP 10 THO? thats almost overvaluing him... but hey within a few draft spots whats it matter? tulo could cement himself into the top 12 for 2011 this year.

Yeah, Markakis was dirty...I feel kinda bad, but I actually dropped him in the final week (I was in the championship of my H2H, so everyone who wasn't in the championship wasn't paying much attention). He had been slumping, so I figured, if someone grabs him off waivers no biggie, but if he clears waivers and I get him as a free agent... anyway, I did. Shifty, but legal!!

Young or Markakis too much for Tulo? you are getting the star player in the deal, in a round and a half later than where he should go. You are going to have to overpay to get him and you want to lowball? 1 of us is way off the mark here

Right, I'm getting a player a round and a half later than he should go, but giving up a player 10+ rounds later than he should go. Obviously Tulo's a better player, but Young and Markakis may be a better value (10+ rounds). I'm not sure how that's a lowball. Also, Young/Markakis can be kept for at least one more year after next year, and still be a bargain.

You need to change your keeper rules if you can pull off something like that for Markakis. Our rule for free agents is that the player's round value is based on the number of consecutive weeks you owned him until the end of the season. So if you picked up a guy in the 2nd week and held on to him all year you are rewarded with good keeper value. But if you pick up an injured guy or something like that at the end of the year, you'd have to give up an early draft pick to get him. We actually changed it to total weeks the player was owned by anyone, but it created some situations like yours with Markakis so we are going back to the consecutive weeks.
