With the opening of Yahoo, our waiver wire opened. I have the 5th WW in a 20 team league 6x6 roto (BB and holds). We keep can keep three rookies along with 10 non-rookies for the 2010 season. Please rank the following:
Strasburg, Stephen Alvarez, Pedro Jennings, Desmond Santana, Carlos Carter, Chris Chapman, Aroldis Ackley, Dustin Jackson, Austin Sizemore, Scott Ramos, Wilson Anderson, Lars
Also available: Sheets, Ben
I am in need of power, see my team below. My question would also be...at what point do you pass on these guys and wait for Jason Heyward. Is there anybody else worth waiting for. I wouldn't mind listing the top four of these guys and then if the top 4 WW picks are used I would sit at #1 waiting for Heyward. The issue with that is that using my WW now allows my WW "clock" to restart so that I can move up for the in-season call ups.
If you already have a starting lineup (mostly) in place, why pick up a mediocre waiver commodity like Sizemore when you can wait a month for Strasburg or Heyward in a keeper? I'd go for the big shots.

You could wait for Heyward, but i don't see Strasburg up for awhile.

I think Stras'll be up early. The WAS rotation stinks.
Thanks guys. I'm looking long term here so looking at rankings of this list. I have #5 WW so not sure Stras is going to fall or if waiting will get me Heyward.
I guess I'm looking for guys to contibute no later then 2011 season.

Chapman is a great talent but control is a potential issue for him while Strasburg has pinpoint command. Santana is close to a 25 HR catcher (which aren't exactly a dime a dozen), and Ackley is at least 20/20 with the potential for 30/20 and a very high batting average. Alvarez is like Carlos Pena at 3B: big power, low BA.
