AL only, Auction style, 12 team keeper league(MIN 6, MAX 12 KEEPERS) based on $260 (Auction values are always inflated because of amt. of keepers) 5x5
Possible Keepers Going into 2010 draft: Kinsler-17$, Pennington-5$, C.Davis -15$, Cuddyer-9$, Quentin-13$, Reimold-7$, Avila-2$, Shields-12$, Porcello-13$, Slowey-10$, Peavy-20$, Aceves-1$,
Pre-draft I have been offered Mariano Rivera at 27$ for one of Chris Davis or Rick Porcello.
Is it worth it to do this deal? Or go into the auction with both Porcello and Davis and draft a closer of those left (Valverde, Soriano, Papelbon, Nathan-- (papelbon and nathan will for sure be over 30$)
Closers who won't be available at the draft include( Soria,Wood,Fuentes,Aardsma,Frasor/Downs, Francisco,Jenks, Bailey, Rivera, M.Gonzalez)
I don't have any experience with an auction league but in my novice opinion, even with the inflated prices, Chris Davis is overpriced at $15. He could turn it around and bounce back this year but it doesn't seem like the price tag makes it a great bet to take. You also have Quentin (coming back from injury) and Reimold (young, relatively unproven) who are other risk/reward hitters at a cheaper price. With all the closers that are off the table already, I think moving Davis for Rivera would help you.

If the closers are fetching close to $30 with a $260 budget than I might take a second look at some of the available guys like Dotel, Matt Capps, Leo Nunez, Chad Qualls, or whatever. But that's just my playing style, I could see it the other way where it's good to get Rivera.
I'd do it. I know how overpriced closers get in a single league auction (especially 12 teams). To get a solid top closer before going into the auction is one huge thing you dont have to worry about. You can replace the guy you trade for similar value in the auction if you do your homework.

Guy's playing in an AL-only league, so those guys won't be available. If Rivera stays healthy, he's certainly a top-3 (him, Nathan, and Paps), with a real shot at ending the season as the top closer.
I'd trade Porcello for Rivera, I just don't see that guy being much more than a back-of-rotation guy for a few years, if ever. You could pick up some sub-$5 pitchers with equivalent skills. Davis is also overvalued at $15, IMO, but has a better shot at putting up solid numbers.

Sorry, I didn't see AL only. In that case, the deal is good.
