I have a minor league draft starting Monday. I have picks 3,4,7,15,18 & 26
All of the 2009 MLB 1st year players are available and a few others. Here is a list I came up with. Any help, suggestions, strategies would greatly be appreciated.
Stephen Strasburg Desmond Jennings Martin Perez Dustin Ackley Aroldis Chapman Dominic Brown Starlin Castro Jenrry Mejia Michael Taylor Casey Kelly Tyler Matzek Chris Carter Ryan Westmoreland Kyle Drabek Christian Friedrich Lonnie Chisenall Shelby Miller Jaff Dacker Dee Gordon Wilmer Flores Derek Norris Zach Britton Hector Rondon Josh Bell Mike Montgomery Jacob Turner Drew Storen
A lot of these guys are really close so it can vary a lot depending on need, or potential, or position.. etc. If you like a guy a few spots below where I ranked him, just go with your gut ... though I think the tiers are pretty accurate.
Stephen Strasburg - obviously Desmond Jennings - obviously #2 Dustin Ackley - chance at 2B makes him really tempting ---------------------- Martin Perez - could be very good Aroldis Chapman - ditto Starlin Castro - a SS who has speed and pop is always valuable Chris Carter - def will hit for power Dominic Brown - has to develope a bit more but has the tools, that said If I had to pick one to bust ... Michael Taylor - very solid bat, maybe not the upside but still very good and I doubt have much doubt he will hit ---------------------- Kyle Drabek - AL East, darn ... still has the making of a TOR pitcher though Jenrry Mejia - young, rushed, 1 plus pitch... potential but I hate the way the Mets try and develop guys Casey Kelly - tough division but looks very safe to be a middle guy, possibly TOR Jaff Decker - no real position but the kid can mash, he'd be up higher if he didnt just complete Low A Tyler Matzek - h.s. arm w/ sky high potential, but how many of those go wrong? Jacob Turner - ditto Christian Friedrich - looks like a safe bet for a #3, possibly #2 ... not quite sold on him yet at the current levels he played Ryan Westmoreland - might seem low but he really has yet to show much for the rankings he's been recieving, SS ball was nice but need more ... also the injuries are worrisome Derek Norris - C who can mash? hopefully he doesn't get moved off ---------------------- Josh Bell - power bat, could move to 1b, can't hit lefties yet Lonnie Chisenall - for fantasy purposes he is nice, but I don't see the big potential Mike Montgomery - almost what I said about Friedrich Drew Storen - elite closer? possibly, I could see him going higher if someone wants to win now Dee Gordon - so raw, but has speed to burn if he can make it ---------------------- Wilmer Flores - still young, but needs developing Hector Rondon - #3/#4 type? Zach Britton - ditto Shelby Miller - wouldn't be surprised if he busted or devloped into a #2/#3 ... but h.s. arms are so fickle

Derek Norris Lonnie Chisenall Dee Gordon Mike Montgomery Zach Britton Jaff Dacker Wilmer Flores Josh Bell
Jacob Turner Shelby Miller Drew Storen Hector Rondon
I think, this year more than previous years, there is a lot of talent clustered at the top and it falls off quickly after that. I would see if I could trade picks to upgrade and pick earlier.
In my fridge: Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS), Central Waters Peruvian Morning, Bell's Batch 10,000, Dale's Pale Ale, Capital Brewery Amber, New Glarus Moon Man, and Guinness.
