I've posted about this before, but I've been doing some thinking and have some new ideas about my keeper options. It's a 10 team mixed h2h points league (scoring in sig), where we get keepers three rounds prior to their draft position the year before. We can keep up to 3. I'm playing with a couple of strategies and I'm wondering what you all think...
The guys I'm considering are: Nelson Cruz-13th round Scott Baker-15th Derrek Lee-17th Rick Porcello-14th Brett Anderson-12th
Strategy 1: Keep the three with the best value for this year If I go this route, I'd keep Cruz, Lee, and Baker.
Strategy 2: Keep three pitchers In my format, pitching depth is huge. The quality of pitchers available on the waiver wire is low, and we set our lineups weekly so 2-start pitchers are important. If I do this, I'd keep Anderson, Baker, and Porcello. That way, I'd have three good pitchers to build up my depth. I'd draft hitters early and often. I usually don't go after the big ace pitchers early anyway, so I'd add some 2nd tier pitcher to this group. I think I could form a really good team with this strategy. Plus, Anderson and Porcello offer some long-term keeper potential. Also, there are a lot of good pitchers who are going to be kept.
Strategy 3: Combine the first 2 strategies Here I might do something like Anderson or Porcello, Cruz, and Lee.
Thoughts? And of course WHIR
Or I could just keep nobody and start from scracth.
