How will Schmidt do this year?

Postby Mighty Monks » Sat Mar 20, 2004 6:38 am

I have been offered a trade wwith schmidt in it and was wondering what you guys thought of him this year? I know he has surgery in the offseason. Do you think he will regain his form from last year? What are your projections for this year? Thanks in advance

Unless you are getting Pedro, Prior, or Schilling in return, hang on to Schmidt. He will put up similar numbers to what he did last year

It seems like a fair trade offer. But if my team were solid already no i wouldnt be giving up Arod. If I felt my team was thin and could use some depth I'd consider this one. Not just say NO right away just because Arod is involved. But also i would wait until after the season started to see how Schmidt turns out. Right now it sounds as though he may miss some time with his shoulder.

Let me reiterate, NO!

Schmidt is an injury possibility. And Tejada is a good player. He didn't have the year last year he did the year before. (wait a minute........Yeah that was right). And now he's player for an improved O's team. But they are still the O's not the Yankees. Stick with he roto god and be happy you did.

I second that "NO!"

It's too early in the season to trade away the best fantasy player in baseball.

There will be plenty of pitching gems that will emerge from free agency and killing your roster spot for depth is going to prevent you from picking up those gems. Instead, if you make that trade, the guy getting AROD is most likely to pick up those gems. Remember, just two years ago, Schmidt was one of those pitching gems that you could just snap up out of free agency.

thnaks guys, I did not make the trade, I like the balance on my team right now, and did not want to weaken my offense at all to improve my pitching when I feel my pitching is already very good. If i trade a-rod, I want no questions in return, and I couldnt do it. thanks for all your responses.
