I have to decide on who I will be keeping for this upcoming season. In my league each keeper is deducted two rounds from where he was chosen last year, for example Adam Dunn taken 7th round in 2009, he will count as my 5th round pick this season. We can keep three players I am keeping Matt Cain(11th round) and Adam Dunn (5th round). I have to decide between Aaron Hill (undrafted wont cost me a thing!) or Youkilis (2nd round)

Should I go with the free option of Aaron Hill or go with the sure thing and use my 2nd round pick and take Youk? Please help!

The other thread on Hill is out of control.

Clearly, keeping Hill here is the right move. While I don't think he will be as good as last year, he will certainly be good enough to be protected when a draft pick isn't involved. Youk may be available in an early round anyway. I take Hill for sure.

Looking at this strictly from a drafting point of view, I'd keep Hill. He won't cost you a draft pick and you can always re-draft Youk in the first or second round.

I certainly see the logic for keeping Hill and I don't necessarily disagree. However, playing the other side I could see the logic in keeping Youk and, depending on the culture of your league, I that just might be my recommendation.

Assuming there are 12 teams in your league AND most keep their best players (despite the high cost), the top 36 payers are off the board to start with. Then you go through the 1st round and the top 48 are gone. At MDC Youk is going 34th on avg, but as early as 19th overall! IMO, behind A-Rod he's the best fantasy 3B for 2010. He's very reliable in terms of health and also a lock for .300, 30, 100 production. I'd have a hard time giving that up for Aaron Hill, who is anything but dependable or even projectable, regardless of draft position.

I think I would also go Aaron Hill. I believe he will outperform his position by a larger margin than Youk will, and being able to keep him no penalty is just a bonus. I like Youk for a 2nd round pick...but I like Hill better for his price.
