AROD for kershaw zimmerman and the 12th overall pick

Postby galante22 » Thu Feb 04, 2010 9:45 pm

its a keeper league, 12 teams everyone keeps 5 players, each player can only be kept for 3 years,h2h 5x5 standard scoring system, the trade would take place after the draft so i get to keep my keepers and obtain those players. i currently have the 8th overall pick in the draft.

my keepers are

arod
tulo
youkilis
werth
jimenez

kinda hate giving up arod for the next 3 years but i get kershaw zimmerman and maybe i hamels or lind caliber player...only thing is the year after i wont be ableto keep a majority of players hence lossing value...probably a good move for me but idk im hesitant

I would do it. Even in keeper leagues you usually play to win now, unless it's after you screwed up your draft and half of your keepers are on the dl (been there/done that). Your team will be stronger this season because of it.

Question: is this the first of the three years you'd be able to keep A-nerd? That would play into the equation to someone who is leaning on the fence a bit... not me though... I would make the deal. ;-D

I would do this trade and here's why: A) Zim will replace ARod at 3rd and is much younger. B) You get, in essense, two keepers plus a first round pick. C) If you find yourself with too many keepers next year, you can always package a few and upgrade your positions D) It's going to be a lot easier to trade ARod now as opposed to 3 years down the road.

I like this trade for you also. Zim is a stud on a bad team. Imagine if they marginally improve, he could be in line for even better numbers! I am very big on Kershaw this year not to mention if you were able to get Hamels (he will bounce back) with that 12th, you would really be sitting pretty.

Thanks for the help on mine.

ya i'd hate to deal arod this yr, i really think he dethrones pujols and hanley.... (let the riot begin since i said that) oh and i hate the yankees... if that helps.

If you do it I dont see a huge difference other than you're probably gonna lose about 6-10 HR's and 20-30 RBI's, but gain a younger 3B (bc i can see aroids dropping off in the next couple years, but it is only a 3 year league, dont know if it will be that soon) and Getting Kershaw and possibly Hamels is Huge IMO.... Kershaw might step to the elite level this year, if not i'd say 2011 for sure with a good glimpse this year....

tough one, i'd probably stay put just bc you have youk for 3B if you wanna trade Arod next year AND pitching is deep, coin toss tho... good luck

yea i mean there will be some bats available if i choose to go that way so could be zimmerman kershaw and lind plus id still have my 8th overall pick to use on a pitcher or whatever idk its hard for me to pull the trigger as i see arod being definatly top 3 in fantasy and i could see him passing hanley...idk hard to decide need alot of opinions!

I would go for it...I think the depth you gain from this is going to help you. Zimmerman is not too shabby of a replacement, Kershaw is coming into his own and whoever you get for the pick is going to be helpful, especially in a league with only 5 keepers each. It's tough to give up A-Rod this year, but I think you may come out better in the long run.

Thanks for your input.
