I'd rather have jeter than soriano. In my opinion second base is a deeper position than SS. Plus, i don't see how soriano can continue to bat over .300 without walking. He only has 7 walks. That puts him on pace to get 28 walks considering we are a quarter of the way through the season.
Take a look at the top hitters in the game and try and find any with less than 30 walks in a year. The only one i can come up with is Ichiro, he only had 30 walks last year. But if you can bunt you way to first you don't need to walk. Another guy who did fairly well but didn't walk is Pierre 41 bb's last year
Beyond Ichiro other hitters i would classify as top of the order free swingers, Vlady 60 bb's, Garciaparra 61 bb's two years ago, Damon 60 walks.
I could be wrong about soriano tailing off quite a bit but with his free swinging i can't justify his current production to continue, while we know jeter is consistent. If Soriano's average drops to .270 it will drastically effect his SB and runs, thus his value drops.
Go with Jeter.
