Ridiculous Dynasty Team - Cut 1 Player

Postby TheNatinals » Tue Feb 02, 2010 10:35 am

Hey - one of my leagues is a 10 team 6x5 roto (OPS is the extra category). There are no salaries (so everyone is a permanant keeper) and minor leaguers are free for the taking (no waivers). About half of the owners are very active and we also have a few perpetual cellar dewellers. It may not sound like much fun, but there's good money on the line and a couple other strong teams, so I'll gladly continue to compete.

Anyway, I've won the past two years and would like to continue to do so. I need to cut one of my reserves before the season and there are also a few minor leaguers I have my eye on, so I'd be willing to cut or trade to open up another bench spot or two. Is there anything you'd try to strengthen here or should I just leave well enough alone?

This is a completely ridiculous team. I can't imagine you could lose.

For your prospects, the only way you could upgrade them would be to add Carlos Santana or Strasburg to your squad. Still, Stanton's K-rate is troubling. I would float his name in trades to see if the hype on him this spring gets you a nice price. Still, you sell him for the full price of a top 5 prospect, or you just keep him, right?

Bourn, Cueto, Buccholz, and Pence look like your odd men out at the MLB level. Bailey's also a risk, too, but I actually like him.

Bourn/Cueto. Or Pence/Cueto: why not go fishing for another closer or a better SP? Bourn/Buccholz/Cueto could or should net you a very good SP.

Thanks for the feedback! I actually like plugging Bourn into that UT spot just to guarantee a win in SB. My other guys keep me near or at the top of the other offensive categories, so his other numbers don't hurt much. Maybe Fowler can take his place this year as my SB machine, but I have to see a bit more first.

I was recently trying to move Utley/Cruz for Ryan Braun but that deal fell through. It would have given me another prospect spot and let me move G. Beckham into the 2B slot when he gains eligibility.

I'll definitely try shopping a Pence/Cueto/Buchholtz package around - that could get me a nice return.
