That's amazin'! Seriously, that's beyond awful.

Losing to the Marlins was deeply frustrating… Watching your team go 0-for-19 with runners in scoring position can make you feel suicidal. We have to move forward, make whatever changes we feel are important, and keep our eye on what we’re trying to achieve. Losing to the Marlins was tough for us to take though, it was tough for the fans to take…
Sandy Alderson said the Mets don’t see Ruben Tejada or Lucas Duda as part of the team’s ‘core,’ the GM told WFAN’s Mike Francesa today.
However, Alderson did he does consider Ike Davis to be part of the ‘core,’ despite demoting Davis to Triple-A on Sunday.

“I’ve never had shortstop in that ‘core’ column,” Alderson said. However, he added, “Ike is the kind of player we would like to rely on for the future.”
When asked if Duda was part of the team moving forward, Alderson paused, for a while, then said that he feels Duda is a “serviceable player who is making a contribution.”

Short term we have to admit that Marlon Byrd is one of the few players we have producing. Cutting his playing time doesn’t make a whole lot of sense right now. In center field expect to see a somewhat even distribution of playing time between Kirk Nieuwenhuis and Juan Lagares. We need to find out about both of them We will see a more balanced allocation of playing time. We’ll also see what role Collin Cowgill will serve with his versatility to pinch run, bat off bench, etc.

I imagine team morale is high when you are calling guys 'serviceable players making a contribution'. There isn't anything constructive in that comment.

Wow, what exactly was Alderson trying to accomplish by making public statetments like this?
That is the epitome of a dysfunctional franchise

Now what?
Mets fans have options. They can stop going to Citi Field, which they have already done in droves. And they can stop watching Mets games on SNY or listening on WFAN.

The broadcasters don’t have a choice. They not only get paid to watch this garbage, they must find a way to honestly describe it.

It’s the second week in June and hope is dead — so is the Mets offense. Shuttling alleged major league shlock out to Las Vegas and bringing back suspect quality in return won’t change things.

Someone in either broadcast booth might want to point this out Tuesday night while the Mets are playing St. Louis. Don’t even try attaching false hope to Sandy Alderson’s recent move. That would be a con job.

With no end to the Mets’ ineptitude and misery in sight, their broadcasters are the only entertaining element left. They won’t be able to stop the ratings from tanking, no set of voices can do that, but they can hold what is left of the shrinking audience by pounding away at the horror show reality the Mets will be dealing with indefinitely.

Mets fans won't be coming to Citi Field much more this season, but they could be tuning into the game on TV or the radio if the announcers pound away at the shipwreck of a season.

Ike back soon?
this from rotoinfo.
Manager Terry Collins said Lucas Duda isn't at first base because they expect Ike Davis to be back soon. He doesn't want Davis to think his job is being taken. (RotoInfo.com) (06/11)

I figured he would be down longer than 2 weeks at least, and maybe closer to 3. this sounds like it wont be that long.

would this be the best spot to put this.
the Mets traded for Eric Young.
Mets acquired OF Eric Young Jr. from the Rockies in exchange for RHP Collin McHugh.
Young is batting just .242/.290/.352 this season, but he's a good fit for the outfielder-needy Mets. The speedster should receive a good amount of playing time in center field and makes for a nice cheap speed pick-up in deeper formats.

Young should be in line for regular playing time?

I imagine he has to at least be given a chance with who the mets have been playing in the outfield.
