I'm hoping for Omar to trade Jerry Meija and Ike Davis before he's fired. I cannot see him lasting past the all star break this year, unless they are leading the division at the time, which has about the same likelyhood as Sarah Palin opening up an abortion clinic.
People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring. ~Rogers Hornsby
Mets Upgrade Offer To Barajas By Mike Axisa [February 20 at 8:20am CST] The Mets have upgraded their offer to free catcher Rod Barajas to a Major League contract, reports Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com. Yesterday we heard that he was weighing several minor league offers, including ones from the Mets and Rangers.
The 34-year-old Barajas hit .226/.258/.403 for the Blue Jays last year, which would actually be a downgrade (in terms of OPS) from the league-worst .254/.305/.380 output the Mets got from their catchers last season.

The Mets are trying to void the waiver claim they made on lefty reliever Jay Marshall because of a pre-existing shoulder injury, tweets Adam Rubin of The New York Daily News. Marshall was claimed from the A's back in early January.
Marshall, 26 in a few days, missed 32 days at the end of last season with tendinitis in his throwing shoulder.

Jon Heyman of SI.com hears that Jose Reyes will bat third until Carlos Beltran returns.
This means that David Wright -- the team's best on-base option -- will likely bat fifth, which isn't good if you're trying to get on the board early. Likewise, it isn't good for fantasy owners who hoped to see Reyes rack up steals once again. Who knows if the experiment will actually make it off the cutting room floor, but the greatest concern is if Reyes will be more focused on hitting home runs this season, even after Beltran returns. It just doesn't seem worth it if it's only going to be for a couple months.
