Giant's need a leadoff hitter
I think the main take away from this deal is that Stubbs will be given full time now for sure in Cinci.
I was expecting a Giants dig from someone (cough Aussie cough)...
We've got money to burn, so I Iooooooveee this trade. The PTBNL better be something with a pulse, or Jocketty is getting royally screwed. Rosales has real pop potential in his bat, if he is the equal (or better) of Pennington in the field he could be our starting SS at some stage.
LOL @ Willy T being an A for an hour.

I heard that the Giants need a lead off hitter, $4mil for Taveras is a "bargain".
He wants $4 mil... better give him $6 just to be safe and lock up a "gritty," leadoff hitter... sadly I feel like this may be running through Sabean's head

Uh he's already signed for $4, how are you paying him $6?

I guess it wouldn't make sense to let him clear waivers and then pay him more money

The Reds have designated Aaron Miles and Wladimir Balentien for assignment, according to C. Trent Rosecrans of CNati.com (Twitter link). We heard on the weekend that the Reds were likely to designate the pair for assignment to create roster space if GM Walt Jocketty didn't find a trade partner.
Seems like there are a lot less wasteful ways they could have saved $1.7mil *coughCorderocough*
