Final Keeper Help

Postby buddycowley » Mon Feb 01, 2010 10:25 am

14 team, 5x5 team. Finished in the top 3 each of the last few years.

12 keepers, and these are the definite ones right now:

1. Teixiera, MArk
2. Pedroia, Dustin
3. Bay, Jason
4. Braun, Ryan
5. Bourn, Michael

6. Peavy, JAke
7. Santana, Johan
8. Webb, Brandon
9. Shields, James
10. Nathan, Joe
11. Street, Huston

These are the players I have to choose from that I think are worth keeping:

A. Homer Bailey - Breakout candidate, and even though I'm keeping 4 starters, they've almost all dealt with injuries last year.

B. Vlad Guerrero - Could be worth keeping if healthy and in Texas, but his best years are behind him. Already have 3 OFs protected, but there is a UTIL spot to fill as well.

C. Martin Prado - Would be in interesting protect, as I could deal Pedroia and plug in Prado. Is he a protectable player though?

D. Elvis Andrus - Good 1st season, will steal a lot of bases. Can probably be drafted later in the draft though.

This is the trade I was just offered:

Derrek Lee, Dan Uggla, Jered Weaver for Pedroia.

Not sure if I can protect all 3 of those guys, so the offer is somewhat moot. Still, some decent players in there.

Any help would be appreciated.

first of all i would not make that trade, it doesnt help you at all with your keeper situation. i love elvis andrus but if u think u can get him later in the draft that i suggest you do that. id go with homer bailey or vlad. yes vlads best days are behind him but hes in such a potent line up nd a great hitters ballpark. probably lookin at somewhere around 20-25 hrs 80-85 runs nd rbis probably less runs then rbis, and around a 300 average...homer bailey can be good but will probably take more then this season to prove it and idk how much u can keep him down the road...id say its between those two, but im very high on elvis...

I would go with Andrus. In 12 man keeper leagues it is worth it to take a shot in the dark on a sleeper keeper. Just think he will bring more success this year and down the road

I think I would keep Andrus from that group. You already have SP and you could probably get Vlad back easier than Andrus. Plus SS is pretty thin.

Please help.

I would also keep Andrus... between him and Bourn you should rack up quite a few steals and you won't have to draft many other speedsters. When you do draft though try and get a couple high BA guys to balance out the hit you'll take from bourn/andrus.

Vlad and Bailey should be available to draft (or something similar or better) anyways.
