BIG keeper trade.

Postby pizzaboy76 » Mon Feb 01, 2010 8:41 am

This is a 12 team 5x5 keeper league. We keep 15 players each year for $320. Salaries go up $5/year. We start 1 C, 1 1B, 1 2B, 1 3B, 1 IF, 4 OF, 1 DH, 5 SP, 3 RP, 1 P.

My current planned keeper roster totals $320

(1B)M. Cabrera $45
(1B)Morneau $40
(1B)Morales $8
(3B)Zimmerman $21
(SS)Bartlett $15
(OF)Choo $20
(OF)N. Cruz $20
(OF)J. Heyward $8
OFSpan $13
(SP)Lester $25
(SP)Garza $26
(SP)Baker $23
(SP)Jimenez $18
(RP)B.Wilson $18
(RP)R. Soriano $15

Also have these other guys that could be potentially kept - Coghlan (OF-$15), Jo Lopez (2B-$20), Gamel (3B-$11), Cain (SP-$28), J. Sanchez (SP-$15), J. DeLaRosa ($15), Frasor (RP-$15), and Downs ($15).

TRADE OFFER - Utley ($40) & F. Cordero ($20) for Morneau, Jo. Lopez, Choo, Cain, and B. Wilson.

Do I do it?

Leave link and WHIR.

First, I would do that deal. You already have MCAB and Morales for 1B so losing Morneau doesn't hurt as much. So then Utley takes Morneau's spot, Cordero would take Choo's spot (same value); I would then add in Jason Frasor for $15. Still give you room to sign one more SP or RP if you want for the P position. Round out your infield nicely and you would just have to sign 1 more OF and your starting roster is full then all you have to worry about is your bench.

What kind of players may be available for you to sign in the OF?

I would definitely do that deal for Utley. I would probably add DeLaRosa at $5.

I have the 8th pick in the draft, so I would have a few decent options. Although at this point it's hard to tell.

Why Frasor over Sanchez or DelaRosa?

I just think that Jason really stepped up last year and if it wasn't for a minor injury he would have been the closer the rest of the season for the Jays, after Ryan was dropped. I also think the Jays deal Downs as they have an overloaded bullpen going into ST, which solidifies Frasor as the closer for Toronto and he will put up good numbers with decent amount of saves.

It's also more of a personal preference, just don't think that Sanchez/De La Rosa are worth that much

Ok, just offered another trade from someone else.

B. Roberts ($40) straight up for Morneau.

What's the better way to go?

I would take the Utley deal and add Sanchez. I think Sanchez finally puts it all together and gets more than just a bunch of strike outs. I think he has great upside.

please help

I definitely take the Utley deal. You look a little thin on SBs headed into the draft so I may keep Coughlan to replace Choo, but if you think you can snag a late round speed threat, then I'd keep Frasor.
