Ryan Howard Carl Crawford Tulo Ian Kinsler Joe Mauer Jacoby Ellsbury
I'm in a 10 team std 5 x 5 roto league. We are allowed 2 keepers and based on others keepers, this is the pool that will be availble.
I will have picks 1, 3, and 6 to start the draft and am debating how to start. If I go Howard and Kinsler I'm REALLY tanking my AVG, and want some opinions.
Thanks and WHIR!

That's how I have them. I trust Kinsler more than Mauer but it's understandable to go Mauer to compensate for Howard. I don't think Kinsler's batting average will be that poor again.
Thanks for the input, and to answer your question on who my 2 keepers are: I currently own Howard and Kinsler. I just didn't know if that combo was the best to keep considering each of their BA's and Kinsler's injury histroy. I could probably throw them both back and still repick them, just thought maybe the other pool would get me a more balanced start.

mauer is hands down the best player here because of his position. the guy hit .365 last year with almost 30 hrs 100 rbis and 100 runs last year oh and did i mention he missed all of april(1/6th of the season). yes with howard youll probably get an extra 5-10 homeruns and extra 20 rbis or so but the difference in average is about 85 points!!! now like i mentioned before think of the positon. theres ten teams in your league so lets assume that youll get a projected top ten at each position. comapre the difference between mauer nd say bengie molina, certainly projected to be a top 10 catcher and someone you can obtain in much later rounds. the difference between there stats last year(where mauer missed 1/6th of the season!) roughly 45 runs, 8 hrs, 16 rbis, and .101 in batting average! thats a huge drop off...now compare howard nd say kendry morales howard had an extra roughly 35 rbis 20 runs and 10 hrs but kendry morales hit for a better 25 points better for average.the runs/rbi/hr portion is somewhat close but i think mauer nd kendry beat out howard nd bengie, but now add the factor that its a 126 point difference in batting average! simply put theres plenty of talent out there at 1b, easily more then 10 at 1b that will put up very solid stats. at catcher theres 3 potentially 4? aside from pujols and and hanley i cant think of a player id definatly rather have then mauer. now if you think you can get howard first and the kid after you wont take mauer then by all means take that risk, draft howard first and mauer 3rd...if not id say easily draft mauer, if howard is there 3rd great, if not plenty of great bats out there at really weak positions. could take crawford to get steals out of the way. could take kinsler without worry because mauers average more then balances him out. you could take tulo. theres really only 4 ss's that are even close to be considered elite and tulo probably the 2nd best out there...a ss that will hit close to 30 hrs and 15 sbs while hitting around .285? add the fact hes battin 3rd or 4th at coors field...i love the situation your in, your gonna come away with half the guys on your list! good luck with whatever your decide but mauer and howard is your best combo, if not mauer and kinsler is pretty damn solid
