minors help

Postby King Tim » Sun Jan 31, 2010 10:45 am

I need to pick one of these four:

Gerrit Cole
Eric Hosmer
Wilmer Flores
Shelby Miller

I'm leaning Cole. 95-97 FB with a nasty slider and an above avg change. There's a good chance he goes #1 in 2011. Is he the right choice. Who ya got? Thanks in advance.

I don't know much about Cole since he is still an amateur, but here's how I rank the other three.

Wilmer Flores
Shelby Miller
Eric Hosmer
In my fridge: Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS), Central Waters Peruvian Morning, Bell's Batch 10,000, Dale's Pale Ale, Capital Brewery Amber, New Glarus Moon Man, and Guinness.

why is Cole eligible? Is Bryce Harper eligible also? How about me, am I eligible in this draft? Seriously though, don't pick a guy who can't even be drafted by a major league team for another year. Take Flores, Hosmer or Miller. It's really a tossup but as I overvalue pitching i'd take Shelby Miller.

He's eligible since he was a first round pick in 08, and this isn't a draft. I can only keep 7 guys during the season. These four determine my last roster spot.

Thanks for the responses. I still don't know which way to go here.

But he wasn't signed, so now I don't think he can be drafted until 2011 right? He's still not with a major league team so in essence he shouldn't be able to be drafted

As we've learned from the FSPOST not every league is the same. Just because you're league doesn't allow Gerrit Cole doesn't mean he shouldn't be drafted. It definitely doesn't mean we should dismiss him as a prospect.

It's way early, but Cole is being projected as the #1 pick in 2011. One of my league allows HS, college and international players to be drafted. I've been wrestling all winter with where to put Cole & Matt Purke on my draft list.

Depending on how deep your farm system is, I may take Cole over the others.

in one of my leagues we have a first year player draft in July (after the June draft) and if said player doesn't sign and goes to college, there's nothing in the rules that says you don't keep his rights.
