Help Me Pick 8 - WHIR

Postby KrazyA428 » Sat Jan 30, 2010 12:25 pm

Good to be back for another season. But I need help deciding on my keepers. We can retain 8 from year to year, all opinions are appreciated. (H2H, 10 Teams, Standard Categories)

Here are my 12 best players:

Adrian Gonzalez
Brandon Phillips
Hanley Ramirez
Nick Markakis
Curtis Granderson
Jason Kubel
Aramis Ramirez

Tim Lincecum
Josh Johnson
Ubaldo Jimenez
Jonathan Broxton
Jonathan Papelbon

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Adrian Gonzalez

Hanley Ramirez

Curtis Granderson

Tim Lincecum
Josh Johnson
Ubaldo Jimenez

Ubaldo, ARam and Broxton is really where the toss up is for me. I'd rather stick with Ubaldo, he has all the tools to be a stud and isn't worth tossing back for a closer, especially in H2H. ARam is a worthy keeper but is getting older and I like the idea of locking up your starting pitching and going all hitting for the draft when you already have important positions like 1B/2B/SS covered.

Throw back Granderson, Jimenez, Papelbon (hate to but you have some good choices here) and Kubel.

Picking your keepers makes me feel like my team stinks. ha ha

I'd throw back Kubel, 2 closers and probably Jimenez. I'm not a fan of keeping closers, no matter how good, especially in H2H. I think this way you have a nice start on hitters and pitchers. There will be plenty closers to draft.

keep:

gonzo
phillips
hanram
aram
markakis
grandy
linc
Josh

not sure if other people keep relievers or not but you have 2 of the top 4 so your at least guarenteed those guys will be there. if others are keeping soria/mo/nathan then you could arguably keep paps or brox over markakis or grandy...but i dont ever keep relievers in my 8 player keeper league.

help with mine?

Really hard to not keep Ubaldo as I think he progresses into a top-15 type pitcher sometime soon. Hard to throw back a quality bat over him though.

Thanks for the opinions everybody, I appreciate it. I think I'm going to go with my gut and keep Ubaldo over Aramis, though. He's just too fragile for my liking, and Jimenez could make the jump to the elite this season.
