Different trade options/possibilities??? whir

Postby Elsy » Thu Jan 28, 2010 6:02 pm

14 team 17 man keeper H2H

Keepers:
Hanley Ramirez SS, Aaron Hill 2B, Adrian Gonzalez 1B, Adam Lind OF, Matt Kemp OF, Carlos Lee OF, Victor Martinez C/1B, Garrett Jones OF, Erick Aybar SS,

Roy Halladay SP, Josh Beckett SP, Ricky Romero SP, Shaun Marcum SP, Tim Hudson SP, Mike Gonzalez RP (Closer), Scott Downs RP (Possible Closer), David Aardsma RP (Closer)

Farm team:
Jesus Montero (C - NYY), David Purcey (SP - TOR), Brett Harper (1B - TOR), Chad Huffman (OF - SD), Davis Romero (SP/RP - TOR), Brad Mills (SP - TOR), Phillipe Aumont (SP - PHI), Kevin Ahrens (3B - TOR), Brad Holt (SP - NYM), Bret Lawrie (drafted as C but moved to 2B - MIL), Ross Detwiler (SP - WAS), Jeff Larish (3B - DET), Tommy Hunter (SP - TEX) Going into the season however going to try and get Brian Dopriak and drop Brett Harper, as well as adding Nick Weglarz for Kevin Ahrens.

Rest of roster:
Matt Diaz OF, Jake Fox 1B/3B/OF, Scott Rolen 3B, Cody Ross OF, Will Venable OF, Vernon Wells OF, Josh Willingham OF, Casey McGehee 2B/3B, Joe Blanton SP, Ryan Madson RP, Ramon Troncoso RP

Possible trade offers:

1.) Get Zach Grienke/Kyle Drabek for Josh Beckett/Erick Aybar - Would then add either Casey McGehee, Ryan Madson or Ramon Troncoso as a keeper. Drabek to my farm team (This one especially if I can do trade option #3)

2.) Get Brett Wallace for Jeff Larish (both are farm team rosters)

3.) Get AROD/Jonathon Broxton for Matt Kemp/Mike Gonzalez/one of Scott Rolen, Jake Fox, or Casey McGehee (he doesn't really have another 3B option)

Primarily looking for opinions on my trade options; good bad ugly??? Keep Kemp and try and move Carlos Lee? Look to do something else? Thanks for any input given and whir.

Well my gosh if you can get #3 I'd do it.

#1 looks good, you're just gonna have to count on sort of an unproven McGehee, I think this is a crapshoot but Sporting News projects him at .292/19/81 and scoring 75...sonot horrible but not good either

I'd jump all over deal one. You'd be upgrading from Josh Beckett to Greinke, and essentially dealing Erik Aybar for Kyle Drabek (which in itself I'd do) AND a player. I would choose Ryan Madson of the bunch. Lidge had surgery on his knee, and was awful last year. I think Madson will save at least 5 games this year and post decent ratios. If Lidge implodes early there is a chance Madson closes all year. McGehee has a track record of mediocrity in the minors and is likely to disappoint a lot of people next year IMO.

I would jump all over deal 2 as well. Larish is a 27 year old who posted mediocre (at best) numbers in Double-A and didn't do a whole lot in his time in the Majors (this year or last). Wallace has a decent chance at being a 20-25 HR source with a BA in the .300 range, while not spectacular if he makes the move from 3B to 1B (which is expected), still likely much better than anything Larish will ever do. There is always the outside shot you get 1-2 years of Wallace holding 3B eligibility with any luck.

Deal 3 I'm passing on. I wouldn't deal Kemp for A-Rod in a keeper league. You don't mention anything about a clock on how long you can keep players, so I'd pass on the short term gains of A-Rod and Broxton for Kemp and Gonzalez and enjoy the extra years of Kemp's productivity.

Good luck.

There is no clock on how long you can hold onto players, any 17 keepers you want every year. The only reason I thought of dealing Kemp was to complete my infield at 3rd.

Thanks for the input so far, and hope to get some more.

I think I'd do #1. You've Hanley and Greinke is a nice addition to your staff. I don't know enough about managing a farm team to give good input on #2. #3 is close but I think I'd do it. ARod is more valuable than Kemp and Broxton might be the #1 closer out there.

#1. Probably my favorite of all 3 options. Grienke is a stud and as someone said earlier 3 years younger than Beckett. Phillipe Aumont (SP - PHI) in your minors is a great pitcher to have and I expect him to be the Tommy Hanson of 2010. With Hanley Ramirez Aybar is irrelevant IMO, even with 3B service. You have Rolen who is serviceable and will get a lot of time with the Reds, but can he remain healthy?

#2. My current #1 prospect in my farm team and dude is simply going to rake in that Jays lineup tons of upside here and I like this trade second of the 3.

#3. Kemp there is no way I'd move him and your OF is young enough to keep in tact for a long time. Solid group

I would do all 3 trades. Lee and Lind should be able to hold down your OF.

If I got Drabek would who you drop off my farm team for him? Chad Huffman, Davis Romero, Brad Mills, Kevin Ahrens (look for Weglarz in the draft)?
