Top 25 2nd Base Rankings 1. C. Utley (Phi) – Clearly the head of the class 2. R. Cano (NYY) – A great 2009 should catapult him up in 2010 3. I. Kinsler (Tex) – Needs to keep his BA up to be complete 4. A. Hill (Tor) – Proved that when he plays he can be great 5. B. Phillips (Cin) – A possible move to SS would tax his body more 6. D. Pedroia (Bos) – Hitting amongst the top of Red Sox order again 7. B. Roberts (Bal) – Starting to slow down but adding power once more 8. D. Uggla (Fla) – If he gets dealt, this could be his last year as a 2B 9. G. Beckham (ChW) – Sophomore has been announced as the starting 2B 10. J. Lopez (Sea) – Productive for 2 years in a row, could get 100 RBIs 11. B. Zobrist (TB) – Where did that come from? Can he repeat? SS & OF eligible 12. R. Weeks (Mil) – Capable of so much but seems to fail every year 13. I. Stewart (Col) – Finally full-time 3B, continues to improve, needs better BA 14. M. Prado (Atl) – Took 2B job in ‘09, good power potential, 20+ HR sleeper 15. H. Kendrick (LAA) – Had a stellar 2nd half, could carry that through, potential 16. C. Barmes (Col) – A pleasant surprise in ’09, might regress some 17. A. Cabrera (Cle) – SS eligible, hasn’t quite hit his peak yet 18. C. McGehee (Mil) – Bat played, I question playing time & league adjustments 19. S. Rodriguez (TB) – Huge sleeper if he’s the starter, hit 30 MiLB HRs in ‘09 20. A. Callaspo (KC) – Should be good in all categories except SBs 21. P. Polanco (Phi) – He’ll be much better in reality, likely bats near bottom 22. M. Ellis (Oak) – Just can’t stay healthy enough to be counted on 23. O. Hudson (Min) – Much better in reality than fantasy but should be just OK 24. S. Sizemore (Det) – Rookie should produce, I could see him batting up lineup 25. L. Castillo (NYM) - Dropped in order but AVG and Steals should be decent
- 5 Games Started, 10 Games Played criteria
Prospects 1. B. Lawrie (Mil) – A slower yet more powerful Biggio? Maybe 2. J. Weeks (Oak) – Rickie’s little brother with lower ceiling but higher floor 3. R. Cano could use some reasoning at #2. He didn't improve his plate discipline much from what I saw, he's still far too timid at the plate. He can do alot better than 30 walks, the strike zone is such a mystery for him that I'm weary of drafting him early.
