With 4 spots open I don't see how it's a concern. Andruw Jones isn't a very good player anymore. Actually take that back, he's not even a bad player anymore. he's terrible.

The Brave or White Sox won't go as high as 7 million. The Tigers are offering about 7.5 with deferred money. They should stand their ground. He won't get a better offer.I hope the Tigers don't go two years. They need to get some young guys playing time soon. This would also give the Tigers somebody to trade at the deadline for prospects. I think its a good move for them. Even if they have to go two years. They'll never have to pay him for two years. He'll be long gone before the second year.

from what i heard on the radio yesterday they are haggling over some deferred money in year 1 and the amount due in year 2
lol the F do the Tigers have to go 2 years for?? There is no other suitor that is offer as much money, and there is no 2 year offers out there. If they give Damon 2 years, its a epic fail.

It isn't our money so what does it matter? And even if it is two years at 14 million. Its not outregous. Its would still be a contract that could be moved without too much trouble. Damon is in a pretty good spot. He knows there still two or three teams that can use his services. He is also NOT a bum looking for work and trying to get more money. He's a good player that will help what ever team he signs with. Why not try to get as much as possible? I know if I were in his shoes I would do the same. Why rush into a contract? More power to him. If the Tigers are willing to spend an extra 1-2 or even 3 million for his services what does it matter to us. It isn't our money. I would be happy to have him on my team. There are much worse contracts out there then what Damon is asking for.
