Could be. I officially bailed on Cordero after this weekend. I have him in a league that's tight for closers, but he's killing me - managed to snag Clay Hensley instead...

Madson looking strong lately and Lidge has a meltdown tonight, walking 3 and a hit while trying to close the door...those in hold/deeper leagues could stash Madson as he has been valuable as a setup man with good ratios and k rates. Contreras could be in the mix as well as he got the save in relief of Lidge.

Valverde is back tonight; earlier Perry gave up 2 runs in an inning and a third.

:-? he gave up a run when they had a 10-4 lead...lots of closers dont bring their best stuff in mop-up duty

in his 6 prior appearances he's given up 0 runs, 2 hits and 2 walks with 4 saves...not sure why you think they'd even consider yanking him

...and i'm guessing in deep holds leagues Madson is already owned

Regardless, they still pulled him for Contreras...Did I say anywhere that they'd yank him from the closer role? I simply mentioned that Madson has been solid lately and Lidge couldn't throw a strike. The situation bears watching.

Leyland is saying that Valverde is unavailable until his elbow settles down. He also says Coke will get any chances. As a Valverde owner, I need to do something. I can 1 add/drop remaining and we do not have a bench. Kuo, Sale, Storen, Hensley, Gutierrez, Uehara, Hanrahan & Takahashi are all available. I need to make this one count. I'm in 2nd and they guy I'm chasing down is on my butt in saves. Wagner is my only other closer. Someone pick one..

I'd go with Kuo out of those options
