Surely you're not saying I'm a Liberal?
Oh I forgot, what do you guys like being called now? "Progressives?" Problem with that one is it implies "progress."
Any suggestions?
For about five years I've been labeled a Conservative over on the Light Side. It's funny that over here I'm a Liberal, when my perception is that the Light Side is typically more conservative and the Dark Side is typically more liberal.

Of course they can. It's a private university. They can expel students for any conduct that they consider 'unbecoming' of the university. They'll give them their money back and say goodbye. Not that this is what is deserved here, because I don't think that in the slightest, but the 'conduct unbecoming of the university' leaves the window very open for universities to expel students.

Thanks.
I'm just an old man who's getting more and more jaded as time goes by though. I keep watching more and more people not be able to think for themselves, and more and more people make excuses for those people. It just gets old.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
Just because the strip was horribly planned and executed doesn't excuse them. That's the danger of trying to use shock value to get a message out, you play with fire long enough it will burn you.
I find merit in evaluating the intent of an individual before passing judgment. The context, in most instances, is just as important as the actual message. Those students obviously made a few mistakes, but their situation should also be viewed in light of all the facts - which is the main reason why I find this "joke" as being much less egregious as many of you.
I wouldn't call the joke egregious, just as I wouldn't consider the fallout severe. Within the context, it makes the intent even worse IMO. An editor losing his job sounds about right to me if the concept was to publish a cliffhanger bigot joke to the student body of university with the intent of following it up in the next publication. That's pretty bad judgment even for a paper that is trying to push the edge.
At a very minimum this comic is in terribly bad taste. There are some things that you can't joke about and if you do joke about it or laugh at it you're a sick puppy. Gay bashing, rape, kiddie porn these are things without a funny side. Did anyone find the joke funny? Did anyone think that it wasn't in bad taste? If you answered yes to either of those questions then you are a nazi
Am I? I can't remember. My dang Oldtimers is kicking in again.
Over/Under on posts until someone tells me how wrong it is to joke about Alzheimer's?
