Which 8 To Keep? WHIR

Postby hockeytownjoe » Sun Jan 10, 2010 12:08 pm

So, I'm pretty sure that I won't be able to make any trades, since everyone who has players I am interested in doesn't seem to respond to my offers.

Which 8 players would you keep? I'm trying to get an idea of which ones to go with for the upcoming season.

C Miguel Montero
1B Justin Morneau
2B Brandon Phillips
3B Ryan Zimmerman
SS Jason Bartlett
OF Adam Lind
OF Adam Dunn
OF Ben Zobrist
Util Andre Ethier
Util Nate McLouth
Bench Miguel Tejada
Bench Alexei Ramirez
Bench Adam Jones

SP Roy Halladay
SP Zack Greinke
SP Chad Billingsley
RP Joe Nathan
RP Frank Francisco
P Trevor Hoffman
P Javier Vazquez
P Peter Moylan
Bench Homer Bailey
Bench Scott Feldman
Bench Jair Jurrjens
Bench Wandy Rodriguez
Bench Carlos Zambrano

Thanks in advance.

Thanks all for the input.

I think it's safe to say that Morneau, Phillips, Zimmerman, Halladay, Greinke and Lind are pretty much locks for keepers, and then it comes down to the last two spots.

I'm a pitching-heavy manager, so Billingsley is an intriguing option...but I don't know if it's intriguing enough to lure me away from other players. On the other hand, Zobrist, Dunn, Ethier and Jones are also solid options.

I also have a flier out on Nathan, but only if I can make some deals and open up a spot.

Anyone else have any opinions? Keepers are due soon, so I need to narrow it down.

Right now I'm thinking on:

Roy Halladay
Zack Greinke
Brandon Phillips
Justin Morneau
Ryan Zimmerman
Adam Lind
Ben Zobrist

And then one of Joe Nathan or Chad Billingsley.

With those keepers, I'm pretty set offensively. I'd basically have my IF done since Zobrist should retain SS eligibility in Yahoo. Or I'll have 2 of 3 OF spots and can draft a SS. It would give me flexibility. And then pitching wise, i have two stud keepers in Greinke and Doc, and then it comes down to a 3rd SP whos young with upside, or a closer.

Some of the players already tossed back:
Cole Hamels, Kendry Morales, Yunel Escobar, Brian Wilson, Bobby Jenks, Paul Konerko, Carlos Quentin, Derek Lowe, Lance Berkman

So some good talent already going back in. I draft 9th in a 10 team league so it could be slim pickings.
