It's probably worth noting that Bowden has been wrong before, but he's citing a "source close to" Vlad and it's common knowledge that the 35-year-old slugger has been in contact with the Rangers all winter. If the news is true, he will take over designated duties in Arlington, Texas, where he boasts a 394/.471/.705 batting line in 50 career games
I don't know where the Rangers are getting their money from but I would love to see Vlad in the that park/lineup.

Don't you mean the positions? I certainly hope that would be the lineup

I really like this signing by the rangers. I think Vlad has a nice chance to rebound in a big way. Unfortunately he will only start with UTIL. What are the chances Vlad gets to play in OF?

Considering they presumably will still have David Murphy, I honestly think it'd be a longshot for Vlad to get time in the outfield with the current roster. Though, the Rangers have talked about dealing Nelson Cruz, likely at his peak value might I add, which would move Murphy to the starting LF spot. Prospect Mitch Moreland could also see time in the OF late in 2010.
