Looking For Defense Range Indicators

Postby Dan Charette » Thu Jan 07, 2010 2:30 pm

Hi all, I've been trying to find the best way to gauge the denfensive range of players. I found a range factor stat in the ESPN fielding stats , but surely there must be other stats that can be used .
I'm just trying to find ways to analyse defence that may have a correlation to runs that are saved. Thanks ahead of time , and please leave a link if one is available.

The UZR listed in fangraphs incorporates range. If you're looking for something more specific, THT used to have OOZ (outside of zone, number of plays made otuside a particular positions range), but since THT and fangraphs combined their stat source I can't find a listing for 2009 OOZ. BB-Ref has range factors, but I admit I am not familiar with the categories they use. Maybe you can glean something from that.
In my fridge: Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS), Central Waters Peruvian Morning, Bell's Batch 10,000, Dale's Pale Ale, Capital Brewery Amber, New Glarus Moon Man, and Guinness.
