That's not how the owners look at it. They don't care who wins or lose. If they pocket a ton of cash and get some pub in Asia, they win.

You think owners are going to care about paying their aces millions for the remainder of their contract after accumulating ~260 IP through winning WS, and then adding another ~18 High leverage IP from the Global World Series?

My only comment here is that there's no way Selig says this without the owners already being mostly behind it.

Only way I can see this happening is if say the top two Japanese teams take part in our playoffs rather then our winner playing their winner.

I'm not really seeing the interest for a team that has just finished a long postseason to travel overseas (games wouldn't always be held in the US) to make the season 2 weeks longer.

Plus what does this accomplish that the WBC doesn't? And the WBC has had a difficult time gaining relevance.
