If theres no difference in cost to keep, I would keep Dlee over Hanson and Wieters. He had a slow start last year but overall contributed a lot for fantasy (I traded for him low or picked him up off the wire wherever I could in 09).
That's going to help you more to contend for this year IMO
If the future starts to weigh in more as a factor and away from DLee id go Wieters over Hanson

I'm just against 34 year old keepers. He had a great year last year when I was down on him going in & could very well be the best 1 year option you have.and considering he's your final keeper he will probably be replaced by next year anyway. so he's got some things going for him despite the age working against him. we've read over & over in these pages where young SP just don't do well their 1st 3 years in a row. and the soph jinx thing? seems to happen alot more than I wish to believe.so that works against both soph's. but I still think I'd try to guess right on which 1, maybe based on your league settings & mates. Either 1 of the pups has alot more trade value to me, pick 1 then try to move once the rosters get filled. If your league is as nutty as mine for the youngsters, I'd pass on the vet & keep 1 of the youngins
btw if you can trade id trade away the young SP to some superfan.
Thats helped me a lot, trade away young pitcher x for a fortune then just draft the next one(s) to come down the pike. If you have a keen eye for the young pitching its a great cycle to run through every year.

My league is INSANE for youngsters. Last year I tried to get Justin upton and the guy said I had to offer matt holliday plus more since its a perennial keeper league and j-up is so young.
all of this discussion has led me away from keeping d lee but now its between Hanson and wieters. I feel I could draft d lee again if I want him but Hanson and wieters may go before I get a chance to pick them back up.
My biggest fear is missing out on wieters and then NEVER being able to get him back. If Hanson explodes oh well...there will be other SP prodigies. if d lee has another solid season...oh well...he is old and 1B is deep. But how many .300/35+ HR POTENTIAL catchers come around? But then again what if wieters has another okay season? Decisions decisions.

this is exactly what I was thinking! DLee is no where near "Keep 5" material at a deep 1B position, so forget about that and Bay going into Citi Field crushes any sort of value he had as an OF keeper...keep YOUNG STUDS in Hanson and Wieters, both poised for breakout years--Wieters moreso, as Hanson broke out as a rookie
I'm gonna jump in line in the growing opinion of keeping Wieters and Hanson and tossing Bay back. I'm definitely drinking the Wieters Kool-Aid. He didn't exactly light the world on fire like some expected last year, but he wasn't exactly overmatched. His minor league track record and "tools," coupled with a respectable transition to the Majors point to a top 5 catcher probably as soon as this year. I believe by 2011 we are discussing him as the possible top player at the position. Hanson looked awesome in his debut, and has some room for growth IMO. Bay has skills that I'd suspect will decline in the coming seasons. He may be the best value going into this year, but I don't think it's by a huge margin. That said, the Citi Field impact will likely be overblown, Bay is probably a safe bet to hit 30 HR's, I'm just not sure he'll hit better then .260-.270 doing it. The counting numbers should be nice, as well, but he does play the OF, which is quite obviously a deep position. Sometimes I can be a sucker for youth, but those are who I'd keep.
If you are stuck between Wieters and Hanson now go wieters, better to go hitter over pitcher.
Have faith in your drafting skills to find the next Hanson. Every year there will ALWAYS be a new crop of promising youth. Dont worry about missing the last wave of it if you know what you are doing You were able to get a wieters and a hanson before right? I think you know what you are doing so dont treat the young potential studs like Haley's Comet.

I'm set on keeping Wieters just to see what happens, although D Lee will probably put up the better #'s, albeit at a very deep 1B. Some posts said to drop Bay and keep Hanson.
