I have 4 openings in my keeper league currently in year 2.
It is a 14 team league and we have a slow forum draft(12 hours per pick). You can keep up to 7 players each year.
*We will be playing on Yahoo.
*25 player rosters with 3 DL spots
---Hitting-C,1B,2B,SS,3B,OF,OF,OF,UTL (162 games max per position)
---Pitching-SP,SP,SP,RP,RP,RP,P,P,P (1500 IP max)
---7 Bench Spots
---3 DL Spots
Hitting: R, HR, RBI, SB, AVG
Pitching: W, K, SV, ERA, WHIP
*Trades in all 3 leagues will be ruled upon by the Commish(I have found that league voting causes division and splits the league into 2 camps of those who always vote "allow" and those who prematurely veto most deals...both are equally as wrong...Deals get pushed through faster with commish rulings.) I personally dont end up trading that often so I dont forsee any problems if I am involved in a deal but we will cross that bridge if/when we get to it.
Most keeper leagues have problems with competitive balance because the league either keeps too many players or the league has different experience levels. So to ensure that there is plenty of talent each year we will use the following system (for all 3 leagues)on keepers:
*No players drafted in the first round can be kept.
(This keeps plenty of the top talent in the draft each year.)
*Keeping a player drafted in the 2nd round will make you forfeit your 1st round pick the following year
*Keeping a player drafted in the 3rd round will make you forfeit your 2nd round pick the following year
*Keeping a player drafted in the 4th round will make you forfeit your 3rd round pick the following year
*Keeping a player drafted in the 5th round will make you forfeit your 4th round pick the following year
**Keeping a player drafted in the 6th round will make you forfeit your 5th round pick the following year
Basically whatever round a guy gets drafted you lose 1 round earlier the following year if you keep him.
This not only keeps talent in the draft pool each year but if you are great at drafting you get rewarded too if you drafted a gem in a really late round that you decide to keep.
