SAN FRANCISCO -- CSN Bay Area has learned that 303-game-winner and future Hall of Famer Randy Johnson will officially retire at a 4 pm teleconference today.

Johnson, 46, is second on the all-time strikeout list with 4,875 over 22 Major League seasons. Johnson, who played for six Major League teams, won his 300th career game as a member of the Giants on June 4, 2009, against Washington.

5-time Cy Young award winner retires from baseball, giving him more time to devote to his Randy Johnson.

Truly a terror to watch on the mound. In this age of fireballers, he's the most intimidating, borderline terrifying pitcher to play the game (Bob Gibson, eat your heart out).

Also:

Hall Of Fame Statistics
Player rank in (·)

Black Ink Pitching - 99 (7), Average HOFer ≈ 40
Gray Ink Pitching - 280 (13), Average HOFer ≈ 185
Hall of Fame Monitor Pitching - 331 (3), Likely HOFer ≈ 100
Hall of Fame Standards Pitching - 65 (12), Average HOFer ≈ 50

8-o Baseball Reference says top 10 all-time pitcher. I'm inclined to agree.

Perhaps the last 300 W pitcher of our generation.
We'll see you in the HoF in 2015.

Having your team face Johnson was always bittersweet. You knew you were seeing a dominating HOF pitcher which was great but you had to hope your team could eek out a win.

HOF pitcher and HOF mullet. ;-D

He may have hated pitching in NY, but no way does he get 300 wins without us. Seventeen wins in 2006 with a 5.00 ERA? Mercy. ;-) ;-D
