I think he'll hit over .300. He's a career .318 hitter and hit .353 while with the Cards last season. I'm not saying he'll hit .350, but I think .320+ is possible and I would project about .330
excellent move for the cards...and great for holliday's value. i'm very surprised the yanks/sox didn't show more interest, the yanks didn't need his bat but they obviously always have the money to spend and he would have been a great 5 hole hitter, but that would be getting greedy. sox needed him badly now that jason bay has left, they dont have the type of power they had in their championship days. youk and vmart are solid 25-30 HR hitters, but outside of that they dont have anyone else.
i would agree that this makes holliday a 2nd round lock, and lots will probably reach for him in the first round. i say reach because kemp and braun are still ahead of him, and OF looks to be getting deeper this yr with many, many prospects on the horizon, while positions like 3b and SS are getting more shallow by the yr.
I'm just glad that St Louis made enough of an offer so that the Damn Yankees didn't come in at the last minute and say 'This is just too good of a value and the payroll will be higher than initially projected'.
I would also like to see mauer, Pujols, Felix, Lincecum and some of the other elites locked up (to contracts, not in cages) and kept away from the Yankees, Red Sox, etc...
