Trade Kendry for Carp & Maybin?

Postby BeSquare » Mon Jan 04, 2010 8:00 pm

20 team, 5X5 retention league. Have a terrible pitching staff at this point (DeLaRosa is my ace, with Millwood the next best). Anyway, have both Kendry Morales & B. Butler for 1B, and have been offered Chris Carpenter and Cameron Maybin for Morales. Really thinkin' strongly about doing the deal. Should I pull the trigger or hold onto Morales? Thx for any replies. . . .
A bad three minutes at the auction can cost you three months worth of research!

If you think you can compete this year (with a shaky pitching staff), I'd definitely do that deal.

I'd do it for sure. If Carp stays healthy, he's a top 10 SP. Maybin is a nice throw in with some serious upside.

When I first read this I was thinking Mike Carp and Cameron Maybin and my eyes did this 8-o . Reading your post though I'd do the deal. Whether you think you can compete this year or not I think Carpenter Maybin is a nice haul for Kendry. You get a staff ace and a developing blue chip prospect who should be useful this year with the potential to really take off in the coming years (and be more valuable then Kendry as soon as 2012 IMO). Also having Billy Butler helps. So, yeah, I'd do the deal as is. That said, if the offer was made to you, I'd try and squeeze every last drop of juice out of it and see if you can send Millwood back for a marginal pitching upgrade and make it a 2 for 3. Just another thought. Good luck.
