Dating and social network site BeautifulPeople.com has axed some 5,000 members following complaints that they had gained weight.
The members were singled out after posting pictures of themselves that reportedly showed they had put on pounds over the holiday period.
The site allows entry to new members only if existing members vote them as sufficiently attractive to warrant it. ... "As a business, we mourn the loss of any member, but the fact remains that our members demand the high standard of beauty be upheld," said site founder Robert Hintze.
"Letting fatties roam the site is a direct threat to our business model and the very concept for which BeautifulPeople.com was founded."
I have no sympathy for anyone who joins, or tries to join, that site, but I was still a little shocked that he called them fatties.
But on a serious note, if someone wants to run a dating site and only have what the typical "pretty" person looks like, then I think they should have the full right to do that. I mean why not, they've got dating sites based on nothing more than color, which is the very definition of discrimination, isn't it? They even go by income and sexual preferance (not linking for that one, don't care to see what a search brings up for that ). But having one for skinny people is wrong? I cry rubbish. Sorry, people need to not be so sensitive.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
