I'd go with Sandoval. He'll be the more complete player plus he costs you less. I, too, don't even think that's close. Even if Sandoval doesn't qualify at C, he'll be worth every penny you pay to keep him.
Thanks guys, I appreciate the feedback. I didn't think it would be Sandy in such a landslide. Devil's advocate: figgins scored more than sandoval in the league last year, he's hitting 2nd in SEA behind ichiro, he may get 2b and 3b eligibility, etc. I was on the fence (still kinda might be).
I think, though, based on the opinions here, I'll take Sandoval. If anybody cares to respond: why do you think it's "not even close." Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Sandoval fan, but I felt like it was kinda close!
1B - Singles 1 point 2B - Doubles 2 points 3B - Triples 3 points BB - Walks (Batters) 1 point HP - Hit by Pitch 1 point HR - Home Runs 4 points R - Runs 1 point RBI - Runs Batted In 1 point SB - Stolen Bases 2 points
Last year figgins ended with 596.0 Sandoval ended with 553.0
I realize that figgins @ 31 is probably either leveled or, more likely, on the down swing (and can run into injury issues), and that Pablo is young and awesome and probably going to improve (though maybe not next year...).
The difference in points from last year is about 2 a week... nothing to sneeze at but in 2010 that gap is going to narrow or possibly turn to Sandoval's favor.
Plus if you get the opportunity to renew his contract after the year that's much more desirable than resigning Figgins.
