Too many good keepers - help please

Postby Fixations » Sun Jan 03, 2010 12:03 am

Need some help with my keepers and draft strategy. I won my league last year and pick last every round not. We get to keep 3 players and then during the draft we get to keep another player every time a player gets drafted from our last year's rosters (5 players). So to restate that - we get 3 keepers and get back 5 more players

Roster
C - Wieters and Doumit
1B - Pujols
2B - Cano, Beckham and Weeks
3B - Alex Rodriguez
SS - Jose Reyes and Elvis Andrus
OF - Justin Upton, Hunter Pence, Adam Jones, Bobby Abreu and Travis Snider
P - Lincecum, Sabathia, Beckett, Burnett, DiceK, Ervin Santana, Webb, Wolf, Buerhle

Obviously Pujols is the no brainer, but what direction would you go from there?

Who are the 3 keepers you suggest?
What players would you most like to get back after the 3 protected players?

Thanks for you help and I will gladly give you my advice in the futures.

I agree! Reyes gets nabbed and you hopefully get to hang onto Upton. Then C.C. gets picked up and you save...um... I dont know. Maybe Wieters or Beckett maybe Pence but I would go fishing!

Help me? http://www.fantasybaseballcafe.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=398819
Fantasy sports are ruled by the 50-50-90 rule...

Anytime you have a 50/50 choice between two players, 90% of the time, you'll get it wrong

Yep I agree with the above. Although if CC gets nabbed I would probably keep Cano and lock up 2B.

Good thought.

Without knowing your leaguemates, it's hard to guess who they draft first, but...

3 Keepers Pujols, ARod and Lincecum.

I know it's a smaller sample size, but let's look at the current ADP from Mock Central for the rest of your players.

Jose Reyes - 20
Sabathia - 27
J.Upton - 32
Cano - 46
Bobby Abreu - 79
Adam Jones - 83
Hunter Pence - 89
Beckett - 90
Beckham - 95
Wieters - 111
Burnett - 127
Webb - 139
Elvis Andrus - 174
Wolf - 179
DiceK - 182
Doumit - 194
Ervin Santana - 216
Buerhle - 223
Travis Snider - 225

When someone drafts:
Reyes - you pick Upton
CC - you pick Cano
Abreu/Ad.Jones/Pence - you pick Beckham/Beckett
Abreu/Ad.Jones/Pence - you pick Beckham/Beckett
Abreu/Ad.Jones/Pence - Wieters

Or something along those lines.
Good luck, feel free to PM me

I agree with Pujols, A-Rod, Lincecum. I'd try to get back these players at some point in this order:

J. Upton
Cano
Wieters
Ad. Jones
Beckham/Andrus
